I teach all ages! I have had plenty of students as young as 6 up to college students and adults.

I generally believe younger students are better off taking shorter half hour lessons and that high school to adult students have more to benefit from the full hour.

Weekly lessons are standard for younger students, but there are plenty of options here. I often have older students take one off lessons to deep dive into specific subjects, returning later when they are ready to continue. How we schedule is ultimately up to you!

A good student has their instrument/amp prepared/tuned etc. and a notebook/pen to take notes with!
